TBH, I'm not really a football (soccer) fan, which spared me the massive "failed to qualify" drought between Scotland's World Cup campaigns of 1978 and 2026.
None the less, that late 70's era is peak childhood memory, with Ally's Tartan Army sung at school assemblies, and Archie Gemmell's iconic goal against the Netherlands immortalized in the equally classic Trainspotting.
Scotland's return in the social media era was/is (still happening at time of writing) a fun window into Scottish positivity, which seems to exists separately from the hubris that had as all convinced we were going to win the World Cup in '78.
These images were made for posting on my Scottish Movie Night Instagram channel.
